OUR COMMITMENT
Our organization STANDS unequivocally AGAINST ALL forms of CHILD EXPLOITATION and endangerment.
We call on the community to:
- 1} Demand full prosecution under the maximum penalties of the law for anyone that was involved in this behavior, failed to report it, enabled it, covered it up, lied about it, pretended it wasn’t happening, and silenced or intimidated those that tried to speak up and end this chilling predatory behavior.
- 2} Demand your school board quickly take action toward and Immediate change in Leadership both in the School and at the District levels.
- 3} Force swift action be taken at the school level to ensure it is safe before classes begin.
- 4} District to place all School Leadership, especially those involved that were involved in the previous investigations’ cover-up and/or were in the position to directly supervise those already arrested and/or formally charged, on immediate Administrative Leave pending the outcome of a fully independent investigation.
- 5} Pressure the school District and school board to release all internal records relating directly or indirectly to the investigation of Meisegeier, and its subsequent cover-up.
– until we REACH OUR LINE IN THE SAND –
not just against one case, but against a decade of silence, complicity, and institutional failure.
This Case is a stark reminder that our local education system is severely flawed and broken. A reminder that safety is not a passive condition, but a COLLECTIVE RESPONSIBILTY. We all have let our children down, and its damn time we did something about it..
Many Critical Failures within SPASD

The failures of the Sun Prairie Area School District (SPASD) and its school administration stem from a series of critical breakdowns in responsibility, transparency, and leadership. Despite prior investigations and warning signs, school leadership failed to report the behavior to law enforcement or take meaningful action, allowing Gilkey-Meisegeier continued access to students. Administrators enabled this predatory behavior by ignoring complaints, dismissing concerns, and silencing or intimidating those who tried to speak up. This culture of silence created a protective shield around the accused and allowed the abuse to continue unchecked.
Internal investigations were buried or sanitized, and individuals in supervisory roles over Gilkey-Meisegeier were not removed or disciplined. The district has refused to release internal records related to the case, obstructing public scrutiny and violating the community’s right to know. No meaningful action has been taken to remove or suspend individuals implicated in the cover-up,
and as of now, zero leaders have been held accountable. This lack of transparency and accountability reflects a disturbing effort to conceal the truth and protect the institution rather than the students it serves.
The consequences of these failures are profound. Children were exploited, families were betrayed, and the institutions charged with protecting them chose self-preservation over justice. The district’s refusal to act decisively and transparently has undermined public trust and endangered student safety. As the Safe Schools Advocacy Committee homepage states, this case—and the last ten years of inaction—serve as a stark reminder that our local education system is severely flawed and broken. Safety is not a passive condition; it is a collective responsibility. And in this instance, that responsibility was abandoned.
The Institutional Collapse Behind the Crimes
The criminal complaint and community documentation reveal a disturbing pattern of negligence, concealment, and administrative malpractice within the Sun Prairie Area School District. These failures were not isolated—they were systemic.
Breakdown of Oversight and Reporting. The breakdown of oversight and reporting within the Sun Prairie Area School District reveals a devastating collapse of responsibility. Despite multiple credible tips, disclosures, and internal investigations, district officials—including HR and school administrators—attempted to cover it up simply out of self interest. The district’s internal handling of complaints lacked integrity. Staff shared allegations directly with the accused, failed to document findings, and did not preserve evidence. These actions may have inadvertently strengthened Gilkey-Meisegeier’s legal defense by violating his protections against self-incrimination as a government employee.
Witness “X” (likely Principal Jen Ploeger) claimed prior investigations were closed because “no student would substantiate” the allegations. This contradicts multiple student statements and tips,
suggesting either willful ignorance or intentional suppression. Director of Student Policy and Operations, Bridget Kotarak, received numerous formal BDDI complaints about Gilkey-Meisegeier months before police became involved. These were ignored, and no protective measures were taken.
Leadership failures are equally damning. Superintendent Brad Saron has made no public comment since the case broke. His silence during a crisis of this magnitude reflects a failure of leadership and a disregard for community trust. Principal Jen Ploeger presided over a school where rumors persisted for years. She failed to act on tips, allowed the accused continued access to students, and did not escalate concerns to district or legal authorities. District HR conducted a superficial investigation, failed to document findings, and did not initiate protective actions. No formal file created—only a since deleted email string.
A culture of intimidation and retaliation permeated the district. Students and staff who raised concerns were silenced or ignored. Victims were manipulated into deleting evidence and retracting statements. Staff members failed to escalate disclosures, instead choosing to “air drop” evidence to the accused or dismiss student fears.

Transparency was obstructed at every level. The district has refused to release internal records related to the case. No leaders have been placed on administrative leave. No public apology has been issued by the School Board or Superintendent.
The consequences of inaction are undeniable. Children were exploited. Families were betrayed. Trust in public education was shattered. This was not a failure of policy—it was a failure of people. A failure of courage. A failure of conscience.

THE SCHOOL BOARD
NEEDS TO TAKE IMMEDIATE STEPS BECAUSE THE DISTRICT ADMINISTRATORS WON’T
The District Leadership still hasn’t held a single Director, or Administrator, or Staff Member accountable for any of the egregious actions over the last 18 months. Not a single Suspension, Administrative Leave, or Legitimate Investigation. Even with SP Police leading a Criminal Investigation into this, they still are so complacent in their power, they refuse to fix anything. Students aren’t safe.
